Course description

The Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management (BHTM) is a three-year, 32-credit degree that blends core business functions with global hospitality and tourism practice. You’ll complete required modules, five electives, and a nine-credit capstone—or opt for a 15-credit international exchange. The program integrates business knowledge with sustainability, preparing you to lead in an evolving industry.

The BHTM builds a solid foundation in hospitality and tourism business functions, including marketing, communications, operations, management, finance, accounting, and HR.

Core learning outcomes include:

  • Global awareness related to hospitality and tourism business
  • Knowledge of the hospitality and tourism industry
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving in the industries
  • Work effectively with others in the industry
  • Effective communication in the industry

Why complete your BHTM?

This degree explores how hospitality businesses contribute to both economic growth and environmental solutions. With an interdisciplinary lens drawing from economics, psychology, sociology, and environmental studies, you’ll learn to manage complexity, lead sustainable operations, and navigate global industry trends. Real-world projects, case studies, internships, and the option of an international exchange give you the experience and adaptability to succeed in a dynamic, global industry.

Career opportunities for BHTM graduates

Before the pandemic, travel and tourism contributed 10.4% of global GDP (~US$10.3 trillion) and 10.5% of jobs (334 million) worldwide. In 2024, the travel and tourism business bounced back from the impact of the pandemic, contributing over US$11 trillion to global GDP and providing nearly 348 million jobs. The rebound of the industries creates job opportunities at every level, but especially at managerial levels, as the industries build back capacity. Key trends include customer focus on sustainable, impactful practices and attention to customer service.
